Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 23, 2026
YTBooks (the “Service”) is a browser extension and website provided by SideQuestWeekend Projects LLP (“SideQuestWeekend Projects”, “we”, “us”). The Service lets you add chapters and notes to YouTube videos. This policy explains what we collect and why. Questions? Email support@yt-books.com.
1. Your account & data
Using YTBooks requires a free account. Your chapters, sections, notes, and folders are stored in your browser; on premium plans they are also synced to your private, per-user cloud database (protected by row-level security) and backed up. We don’t sell your data.
2. What we collect
- Account data — your email address and authentication identifiers (via Supabase).
- Synced content (premium) — when cloud sync is on, your chapters, sections, notes, and folders are stored in our database, tied to your account and protected so only you can access them.
- Billing — payments are processed by Polar; we don’t see or store card details. We store your plan, subscription status/period, and a Polar customer identifier.
- Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregate product events (e.g. “a chapter was created”) via PostHog. We do not send your video titles, chapter names, or note content. You can opt out in the extension.
- Email — if you have an account, we may send service and product emails via Loops. You can unsubscribe at any time.
3. How we use it
To provide the Service (sync, backup, premium features), process payments, improve the product, and communicate with you. We don’t sell your data.
4. Processors we use
Supabase (auth + database), Polar (payments), PostHog (analytics), and Loops (email). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
5. Retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page, which permanently removes your account and synced data from our database. Data stored only locally remains on your device until you remove it or uninstall the extension.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Email support@yt-books.com to exercise them and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.
7. Cookies & local storage
We use local/session storage to keep you signed in and to store your preferences. We don’t use third-party advertising cookies.
8. Children
The Service isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
9. Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change and revise the date above.
